New Drawing

This is a section of a drawing I’ve been working on for a few months.  It relates to the Gotha bomber air raid on Folkestone which happened on a sunny Friday evening on 25th May 1917 (see the ‘Tontine Street drawings’ page).  I will write more about this work in future posts.

    1. Thanks for your comment. I’ll post some more images of this drawing sometime soon. It was quite hard to do because of its upsetting subject matter. It just so happened that I was recently teaching a short Life Drawing course at the Adult Education centre at the end of Tontine Street and it felt odd walking in the same space and being surrounded by some of the same buildings that were present back then when to bomb exploded. Previous to teaching there I’d only ever walked up Tontine Street from the harbour end and I’d never got further up the road than the gap where Stokes Bros used to be. I think I have more work to do on this subject.
