Drawing selected for the SGFA exhibition.

My work has been selected for the 103rd Society of Graphic Fine Art Open Exhibition, at the Mall Galleries, London, from 11th March. ‘Photobooth Portrait (Mum, Margate)’ is one of a series of four silverpoint drawings based on a sequence of photobooth images of my mum.  I’ve worked on a lot of ‘photobooth portraits’, over the course of years, and this might be the last of the drawings in this body of work; but we’ll see.

I’m very pleased that all four of this set of drawings has now been or is about to be exhibited. The drawings are a set, but they work as individual pieces. I like the idea of related drawings being seen separately in different places. I wonder how many people will see all four of them.

The other exhibitions were/are the Wells Art Contemporary 2023, the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists Drawing Prize exhibition, and the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize. The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize is about to begin the second leg of its country-wide tour at the Arts University Bournemouth’s venues at TheGallery, Northwest Gallery and The Live Project Space. My ‘Displaced Portraits’ can be seen in the Anima Mundi gallery exhibition, ‘Summa’, in St Ives, for just a few more days.
